WHAT IS AN AGM?

An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is an important part of the governance of a nonprofit, member-driven organization.

Each year, the AGM brings together the membership and leadership of the Canadian Inline Hockey Federation – Canada Inline to review the work of the organization, provide important organizational and financial updates, conduct required governance business, and discuss the direction of inline hockey in Canada.

It is also an opportunity to recognize the people, leagues, associations, volunteers, officials, coaches and athletes who contribute to our sport across the country.

Most importantly, the AGM helps ensure that Canada Inline continues to operate with transparency, accountability and a clear commitment to its members and the future of inline hockey in Canada.

PURPOSE OF THE AGM

The Annual General Meeting provides Canada Inline with the opportunity to:

Review the organization’s progress and accomplishments from the previous year
Present organizational and financial reports to the membership
Provide updates on member leagues, associations, programs, events and national initiatives
Review the continued development of inline hockey across Canada
Discuss organizational priorities and plans for the coming year
Receive input and feedback from members
Conduct elections or confirm leadership positions where required
Address motions and other official business of the organization
Strengthen communication between the national organization and its membership
Maintain transparency and accountability in the governance of the Federation

The AGM is both a look at where we have been and an important conversation about where we are going next.

A MEMBER-DRIVEN NATIONAL ORGANIZATION

The Canadian Inline Hockey Federation – Canada Inline is built around the people and organizations delivering and participating in inline hockey across the country.

Our member leagues, provincial and regional organizations, athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, administrators and supporters form the foundation of the sport.

The AGM provides an important opportunity for that membership to participate in the continued development of the Federation and the future direction of inline hockey in Canada.

Canada Inline believes that strong national leadership begins with strong local programs.

Our role is not to replace the work being done in communities across Canada. It is to support it, connect it and help create opportunities beyond it.

ONE SPORT. ONE NATIONAL PATHWAY.

Canada Inline is working to build a connected national structure for inline hockey that supports athletes from their first experience in the sport through development, competitive opportunities and, ultimately, the opportunity to represent Canada internationally.

That includes three important parts of our national structure:

MEMBER LEAGUES & ASSOCIATIONS

The grassroots foundation of inline hockey in Canada.

Local, regional and provincial organizations provide the everyday opportunities where athletes discover the game, develop their skills, compete and become part of the inline hockey community.

MAPLE NATION INLINE

Canada Inline's national development and competition pathway.

Maple Nation Inline provides additional opportunities for athletes to compete beyond their local and provincial programs, participate in major tournaments and experience higher levels of competition and development.

TEAM CANADA

The highest level of Canada's national pathway.

Team Canada represents Canadian inline hockey on the international stage and provides athletes with the opportunity to compete for their country at sanctioned international competitions and championships.

Together, these programs create a pathway designed to connect:

BUILDING THE FUTURE OF INLINE HOCKEY

Canada Inline is still building.

That makes participation, communication and collaboration across our membership especially important.

Our priorities include:

Supporting and strengthening member leagues and organizations
Growing participation in inline hockey across Canada
Creating more opportunities for youth, women, men and adult athletes
Developing coaches and officials
Improving national standards, resources and support
Expanding Maple Nation Inline development and competition opportunities
Building sustainable Team Canada programs
Strengthening provincial, national and international relationships
Developing partnerships that help grow and support the sport
Creating a clear pathway from grassroots participation to international competition
Ensuring the Federation operates responsibly, transparently and sustainably

We recognize that building a strong national organization does not happen overnight.

It happens through consistent work, open communication and the willingness of people from across the country to contribute their experience, ideas and energy to something bigger.

YOUR VOICE MATTERS

Inline hockey in Canada belongs to the people who play it, coach it, officiate it, organize it, volunteer for it and support it.

The Annual General Meeting is one of the opportunities for our membership to be part of the conversation.

We encourage our members to participate, ask questions, provide feedback and learn more about the work being done across the Federation.

Different communities may have different challenges and different opportunities, but we share one goal:

To create more opportunities for Canadians to play, develop, compete and succeed in inline hockey.

MOVING FORWARD TOGETHER

The Canadian Inline Hockey Federation is entering an exciting period of growth and development.

There is significant work ahead, but there is also tremendous opportunity.

By bringing together strong local leagues, regional and provincial organizations, national development programming and Team Canada under a connected national structure, we can build something sustainable for the next generation of Canadian inline hockey players.

The AGM is an important part of that process.

It gives us the opportunity to report on the work that has been done, be accountable to our membership, listen to the people we serve and establish the priorities that will guide the next chapter.
